The flimsy, cheap, ugly stock that cannot be replaced is the main thing that keeps me away from the American. Also consider the barrel twist rate. I havnt shot a Savage axis, only a Savage 110, but the opening of the action is much easier on the savage. id get the ruger predator in 6.5 because it has a threaded heavy-ish contour barrel, so you can put a muzzle brake on it and it will overheat less. seems to be the go-to budget long range option right now.
