The stats depend on your school, but it is absolutely worth it. It will last you for the rest of the game. Get it.

The crafted gear does provide an extra blade and trap for your school however. If you don't feel like farming waterworks then the crafted gear will do you just fine until darkmoor :)

Wintertusk has nearly the exact same damage as ww, but lower in resistance.
